Shadow Box

Shadow Box definition: A shadow box is a box which contains layers of plastic which then makes some type of image which looks cool because the light from the back makes it look better.

Design Brief: Create an image inside of a shadow box frame using shapes cut out of and engraved into three layers of 3mm acrylic. You will have the choice of red, blue, green, black or white acrylic at a size of 160mm x 160mm. You will also be provided with one clear front piece and one frosted back piece, as well as a strip of LED lights to illuminate your work.

  • The Shadow box has to have a clear piece of acrylic plastic to show the contents of the shadow box
  • The Shadow box has to have the LED light strips to illuminate the back of the shadow box which then makes the shadow box’s contents look clear.
  • The Shadow box has to have the wood frame to hold all the contents of the box which would help all of it stay inside.
  • The Shadow box has to have the back piece to help hold all the contents of the box which includes all the acrylic layers.
